In Search of Crumble MixMonday 13th MayWoke at about 7.30 to the sun shining through the window, but lurking on top of the hills were some large banks of cloud - so it didn't look too hopeful. Breakfasted on the patio with our staple diet of toast and peach jam and marmalade preserve. Off into Puerto Pollenca where we were amazed to see they were actually repainting the white lines on the zebra crossings, perhaps they do this every year but we have never seen it before. You see some really sad, fat people walking along the front and, unfortunately, they are all British, so we keep quiet and pretend we are not! Into Pelta the leather shop for the annual handbag hunt. We always expect the woman to recognise us but she doesn't as I suppose we are two of thousands that she must see during the year. Back to the villa via SYP where we bought our barbecue meat supplies and Jill's acting skills paid off in her miming of pork chops. By the time we got back to the villa it was really pleasant and Jill had her first swim of the year and we got down to some serious sunbathing.
Had an abundance of visitors, the maid, the Villa Select representative and two unidentified vans which just drove up and left! We had seen a flight of steps through the binoculars which were parallel with the Calvary steps so we set off to find them. What a rabbit warren Pollenca is, we went on foot as it is easier than taking the car. Noticed an extraordinary construction on top of a house which defies description, we will try to get a photo of it. however, we found the steps, and there was a terrific view from them, but we had left the camera behind. On the way back to the villa we bought a Majorcan Bulletin to check the lottery, it is obviously modelled on the Sun as it only takes about 2 minutes to read it. We didn't win so we won't be purchasing our own villa yet. Dinner tonight was the first barbecue of the holiday, in fact, the first of the year. It was really tasty, chorizos are quite lovely and barbecued meats taste so much better so we ate al fresco on the patio. |
